Ho Chi Minh City is the heart and soul of Vietnam. It’s a bustling, dynamic and industrious centre, the largest city in the country, the economic capital and the cultural trendsetter. Yet within the teeming metropolis are the timeless traditions and beauty of an ancient culture.
The city churns ferments, bubbles and fumes. The streets, where much of the city’s life takes place, is a myriad of street markets, shops, pavement cafes, stands-on-wheels and vendors selling wares spread out on sidewalks. It’s impossible not to be infected by its exhilarating vibe.
We depart from 8.30A.M from your hotel then visit to the Reunification Palace, the former palace of President Thieu and his predecessors. Today this building is a museum and venue for official receptions. Inside you can visit the private rooms of the president, the “War Room” from where the South Vietnamese forces were controlled, and, most poignantly, the room where the North Vietnamese army finally took control in 1975. Nearby are the Post Office and the Notre Dame Cathedral, built between 1877 and 1883 and one of the city’s major landmarks. Neo-Romanesque in form, Notre Dame is the major seat of the Catholic religion in modern Vietnam. We continue to the War Remains Museum, where you can learn a lot about the Vietnam War. Enjoy your lunch with Vietnamese delicacies.
In the afternoon we will visit to Jade Emperor Temple, one of the oldest Chinese temples in Saigon. The last sight we will visit today is Ben Thanh market, where all kind of goods are offered.
