  • Topas Ecolodge is a small hotel situated on a beautiful hilltop deep in the mountains of Hoang Lien National Park only 45 min outside Sapa town in North Vietnam. We have 25 mountain bungalows all built as rustic chalet-style single bedroom houses from local white granite. Each of our bungalows presents a casual style with a private balcony, from there you can enjoy the magnificent view of the towering peaks and endless valleys dotted with ethnic minorities’ villages. A perfect place for touring in the surrounding area hiking or biking or just relaxing from the noisy and busy city life.

    To explore ethnic village in Sapa, Ban Ho is a must-go destination. At the end of the motor way about 25 Km from Sapa town lies a vast and flat valley, circled by mountains and hills. Ban Ho valley home to the Tay ethnic . The Muong Hoa River winds its way around the village provide fresh water for 2 crops of rice and bean every year and it make the scenery of the valley more romantic. The Tay people possess high rice farming technique and live sedentary lifestyle. Their villages are often very large with hundred households. Their houses are impressively built on stilts in unique structure to form superb dwellings. It is also a very good village for experiencing home stay.

    350km far north-west from Hanoi, Sapa town, the capital of Sapa District in Lao Cai Province, lies at the altitude of 1600m. With the temperature ranging from the lowest of -1oC to the highest of 29oC, Sapa’s climate is moderate and drizzly in summer while chill and foggy in winter. It is the prominent holiday destination, favored by both locals and foreign tourists. Town of Sapa is where ethnic minority people gather, trade or sell their farming products such as rice, corn, fruits, as well as handicrafts and souvenirs to tourists. There is one interesting fact about ethnic minority people in Sapa that besides their dialects, many of them, especially small children, can speak English pretty well with clear pronunciation.

  • DAY 01 HANOI – LAO CAI (D) 

    Early this evening you will be transferred to the railway station to board the overnight train to Lao Cai. Overnight on train.


    Early arrive in Lao Cai and stay two nights at the Topas Ecolodge. Meet your driver and he will take you directly to the hilltop of Topas Ecolodge at the elevation of 1000m. Upon arrival at Topas Ecolodge you will have breakfast while enjoying a 360 degree mountain view. Start walking into local area and experience the daily life of Red Dao minority people of Lech village, walking through rice paddy terraces gives you many opportunities to enjoy the magnificent valley view with rivers and local colorful farmers. In the village you will experience daily life while visiting a local house and here learn how minority women still master the old skill of embroidery. From the village, you walk back to the lodge.
    The rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight at Topas Ecolodge.


    Morning take another hiking or mountain biking tour to a Tay minority village of Ban Ho, located 600m below your bungalow deep in the valley. Here you can swim in the nearby waterfall and hear about yet another minority culture.

    The rest of day at your leisure at Topas Ecolodge. You may spend the day to enjoy the peacefulness of this remote location, reading a book and taste a glass of wine at your private bungalow balcony. Overnight at Topas Ecolodge.


    Enjoy breakfast at the lodge terrace few where you can enjoy the nature scenery and beauty of the rice fields. You check out and at 9h30 AM and the driver is waiting to transfer you to the starting point of this second walk. Today you will start out by crossing Muong Hoa River by a local bridge and continue walking along the rice paddies again on a route far from most other travelers. This is the area of the two minority groups of Giay and Black H’mong. Soon you will see the big difference in customs and traditions, where Giay prefer to dress in colorful silk whereas Black H’mong produce their indigo colored hemp wear themselves. Lunch will be served in a local village restaurant.

    After lunch the car is ready to take you to the historical Sa Pa town famous for its minority market and old French colonial church. 5h00 pm transfer to Lao Cai for the overnight train.


    Early morning arrival in Hanoi at approximately 06:00 hrs.

    Transfer to your hotel (accommodation in Hanoi is not included) or to Hanoi/Noi Bai International Airport at surcharge.
